Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin

“Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’ hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’ palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’ countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another. The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. Then came in all the king’ wise men : but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof. Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied. Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed: There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say , thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; For as much as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation. Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry? I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. And now the wise men , the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing: And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom. Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation. O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is , and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified: Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.” (Daniel 5)
Here we read how the great King Belshazzar receives God’s final judgment! A judgment that neither he nor his empire survived. Belshazzar not only practiced an anti-God cult of Satan, but to make matters worse, he also defied the Creator of the universe, “YHWH,” the God of Israel, and desecrated the sacred vessels used for worship in the Temple of Jerusalem. His debauched party proved to be his undoing. Instead of turning to the God of Israel, who had already brought his father Nebuchadnezzar to his knees, he rejected his father’s wisdom and gave himself over to vanity.
I see strong parallels here with today’s society. Formerly Christian Europe has become a godless, self-obsessed, and supremely arrogant society. People feel intellectually and morally superior, even though they have now sunk to an unbearably low spiritual and intellectual level. They have cast aside all Christian values and made themselves into gods. “All eyes on me”—that is the motto today, and not only that.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothey 3:1-7)
Is there a better way to describe today’s society? Germany has not only managed to eliminate 6 million Jews, but last year we also surpassed the 6 million mark in abortions of unborn children. Children are being pumped full of hormones to delay puberty, “so that they can decide to undergo gender reassignment.”
Open Satanism has spread even to the highest circles and is openly celebrated, particularly by the music industry. The “angels” of the peace movement suddenly want war with Russia, and the churches are promoting gender ideology and the rise of Islam in Europe, which will lead to their downfall. Violence on the streets is escalating, and rapists are not being convicted. The general population isn’t particularly bothered by this; they celebrate merrily and carefree, just like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah before their downfall.
How much longer is God going to stand by and watch this? I can assure you that the reckoning is coming soon—and it will be a bitter one indeed! The “Horsemen of the Apocalypse” are in the starting blocks; this is clear to anyone who can read the signs of the times. However, this is difficult to do without knowledge of the Bible, and that is where the problem lies. The general public no longer has any idea what is written in the Bible. The teachings about the Apocalypse are now unknown, just like the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This basic knowledge has been systematically and deliberately removed from society.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6)
These are harsh words from God to His people. If Israel has already been severely punished and continues to be punished to this day, what then will become of us, the Gentile nations, at the judgment? Let us read a short excerpt from the Revelation of John, which prophetically described the Apocalypse: “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17)
When will this happen? When the gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached throughout the whole world! “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24,14)
We should realize that we are in this very phase. We are in what is known as the “end times,” and the “birth pangs” that lead away from Satan’s rule and toward the Kingdom of God have begun. This is clear, for the “players” mentioned in the Bible are in position for the “endgame.” This upheaval holds unimaginably immense destructive potential, and that will indeed come to pass. This is inevitable, for Satan will not step down from the stage of his own accord.
The good news is this: the reign of Jesus Christ cannot be stopped, and our hope rests on what is known as the “Rapture.” The Rapture is the next major supernatural event foretold in prophecy in biblical history! In short, the last true Christians will disappear from the earth before the total apocalypse begins and escape judgment. “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
This applies both to the judgment of the Apocalypse on this planet and to the “Final Judgment before the Great White Throne” (Revelation 20), where the fate of every person—whether they will go to heaven or to hell—will be decided. Therefore, I urge each and every one of you to finally give some thought to what concerns God, for this has not only a temporal but also an eternal dimension. Learn about salvation through Jesus Christ; that is why we operate this website for you free of charge. We are not promoting membership in a church or a religion here. Religions and churches cannot save you from God’s wrathful judgment; indeed, they themselves will be judged by Christ without exception!
I hope you take this urgent warning seriously, for your well-being is at stake and time is running out. We do not want God to have to pronounce “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin” upon you as well, so we appeal on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God! For He made Him who knew no sin (Jesus Christ) to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness that is acceptable to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20–21)
